Low Calorie Chicken Tikka Skewers Ingredients
- 341g raw skinless, boneless chicken tender breast
- 4 teaspoons ginger garlic paste (Shan or fresh from home)
- 2 teaspoons red chili powder (I used spicy kashmiri lal mirch)
- 1 tablespoon lemon juice
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper powder
- 1/4 teaspoon garam masala powder
- 100g low fat yogurt
- 1 teaspoon canola oil or sunflower oil
- 90g green bell pepper, cut into squares for skewers
- 110g peeled onion, cut into squares for skewers
- Meat tenderizer (as needed)
- Red-orange food color (as needed)
How to make low calorie chicken tikka skewers
- Cut the chicken breast into bite-sized cubes and place them in a mixing bowl.
- Add ginger garlic paste, red chili powder, lemon juice, black pepper powder, garam masala powder, low-fat yogurt, canola oil, and a pinch of meat tenderizer to the bowl.
- Mix well to coat the chicken evenly with the marinade. Cover the bowl and refrigerate for at least 1 hour to marinate, allowing the flavors to develop.
- Preheat your grill or grill pan over medium-high heat.
- Thread the marinated chicken pieces onto skewers, alternating with green bell pepper and onion squares.
- If desired, add a few drops of red-orange food color to the remaining marinade and brush it over the skewers for added color.
- Grill the skewers for about 10-12 minutes, turning occasionally, or until the chicken is cooked through and slightly charred on the edges. Divide it into 2 portions.
- Serve hot with your favorite chutney or yogurt dip, and enjoy the deliciousness guilt-free!
